First ever new Volvo coach for TK Travel01/04/19
Reading based operator TK Travel has recently taken delivery of the company’s first ever new Volvo coach, a new B8R SB3 which will be used mainly on local school contracts.
TK Travel, which has been operating since 2010, is no stranger to the Volvo chassis, the addition of this new B8R with Sunsundegui SB3 bodywork will actually be the company’s fifth Volvo vehicle, in a fleet of 14, which includes seven minibuses.
This particular B8R purchase is significant, as it is the first time TK Travel has ever specified a completely new Volvo vehicle. According to company Director, Katie Gripton it’s an experience that has left them with positive reflections.
“We were looking for a particular type of vehicle. High capacity, but not too big, with manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency as standard,” explained Katie. “We’ll be using it on our local school contracts, so the vehicle needed to be reliable, hard-wearing and we required it to be a Euro VI to meet emissions standards going forward.”
Katie Gripton continued: “Our purchase owes much to Jo Baker. She was fantastic throughout the whole process. She provided us with all the guidance and feedback required. She was also really thorough in ensuring the vehicle met our exacting standards. I’m already talking to her about another purchase.”
The Volvo B8R SB3 features 72 passenger seats in a 3+2 configuration. The fuel-efficient Euro VI engine keeps operational costs down, while Volvo’s high quality ensures superior functionality, passenger comfort and lifecycle productivity.
TK Travel operates a range of contracts including holidays, tour work and school contracts. The company is a long-term Volvo customer and continue to work together to explore further vehicle options to meet growing demand for services.
Jo Baker commented: “We are absolutely delighted to deliver TK Travel’s first new Volvo coach. The B8R SB3 was the ideal vehicle to meet Katie’s specific requirements for a Euro VI vehicle for school contracts with high capacity. We look forward to continuing to build a long-term partnership with TK Travel.”
