Based at the EYMS depot in Withernsea, the new buses are replacing older vehicles which are gradually being cascaded into local routes in Hull and the much older buses sold off.
The first six vehicles were delivered in January and have joined the 300 plus fleet, which consists predominately of Volvo buses. The second stage of deliveries will take place in September completing the 18 vehicle addition to the EYMS fleet.
Peter Shipp, Owner of EYMS, said: "We are delighted to have been able to continue to modernise our fleet. The new buses are more comfortable and reliable, and also feature on-board Wi-Fi which was introduced on buses on this route late last year. I hope these vehicles will improve the experience for our passengers on this important route.
“The vehicles have been built to the very latest Euro 6 exhaust emissions requirements and will offer better fuel consumption than the vehicles they have replaced. Buses on this route regularly run over 50,000 miles each year compared to about 30,000 or less on local urban routes, so the benefits of better fuel consumption will help offset the rise in fuel prices we are seeing again.”

The Hull based company, which was formed in 1926 and privatised through an MBO in 1987.
EYMS currently runs more than 300 buses and coaches throughout Hull, East Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire coast operating coach holidays and day trips in the area.
