Nick Page, Managing Director for Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, presents a cheque for more than £15,000 to Charlotte Kendall, Regional Fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust West Midlands and Oxfordshire.

Each year the fund raising golf event, which has become regular fixture in the bus and coach industry calendar, attracts more than 100 golfers including Volvo employees, business partners and suppliers.

On the day the amount of money raised exceeded the £15,000 mark, bringing the total figure raised from Volvo Bus since the competition began to approximately £94,000.

The golf day provides a full day of sporting competition, hospitality and entertainment for those taking part.  Starting with a hearty breakfast before heading out onto the golf course, a selection of prizes were up for grabs for golfers to test their skills, including the nearest pin and longest drive of the day, as well as ‘beat the pro’.

Once the competition is completed, it is back to the clubhouse for refreshments. A gala dinner then takes place, featuring a raffle, followed by evening entertainment.

Charlotte Kendall, Regional Fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust’s West Midlands and Oxfordshire region, said: “Every year around 220 young people in our area receive the devastating news that they have cancer and overnight their lives head in a completely different direction to those of their friends.

“Teenage Cancer Trust exists to ensure that no young person has to face cancer alone and we rely solely on donations to provide our vital services.  This is why the support we’ve received from Volvo Bus over the past eight years has been so invaluable. We are so incredibly grateful they continue to support Teenage Cancer Trust and cannot thank them enough for their commitment to the cause.”

Nick Page, Managing Director of Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, said: “We are grateful to everyone who once again ‘pitched up’ to support our annual golf day and helped to raise money for this important cause.  We had a fantastic day and have achieved a figure of more than £15,000 for TCT.

“It is great that our employees, customers and industry colleagues continue their generous support which every year enables us help this amazing charity to change the lives of young people with cancer.”

Teenage Cancer Trust exists to improve the quality of life and chances of survival of young people are diagnosed with cancer every day. The charity provides specialist units that bring them together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed specifically for them and their needs.
