The new 10.5 metre Euro 6 vehicles are built to TfL specification, and will operate regularly on the busy London 285 route, running between Heathrow Central Bus Station and Cromwell Road Bus Station.

Delivering consistent fuel economy and CO2 emissions reductions of around 39%, compared to a conventional diesel double deck bus, the parallel hybrid Volvo B5LH offers extremely high reliability.

Phil Fletcher, Fleet Sales Manager for Volvo Bus, said: “This is a significant 29 vehicle order from RATP Dev London. These new hybrid buses will be operating daily on an extremely busy London route and we’re looking forward to seeing the performance results, particularly with regards to fuel economy.”

Richard Shillingford, Engineering Director for RATP Dev London, said: “These buses represent a considerable investment for RATP Dev London and we undertook extensive market research before deciding which vehicles to purchase.  One of the biggest considerations in any vehicle procurement is fuel efficiency and we felt that Volvo’s performance was what we were looking for with new fleet additions.”

Featuring Wrightbus’ Eclipse Gemini 3 bodywork styling, the Volvo B5LH provides much needed capacity on a busy London route with each vehicle able to carry up to 95 passengers at peak operating times.
