Bluebird sings the praises of new Volvo B11R

Bluebird Coaches of Weymouth, one of the UK’s longest established coach operators, has taken delivery of two new Volvo B11R Jonckheere bodied coaches as the latest additions to its 22 vehicle fleet.

The two new 53 seater coaches are already in operation and have been transporting passengers to Normandy for the recent events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.  Other planned usage for the vehicles include Bluebird’s own tour programme as well as work with holiday companies and travel operators. For the comfort and convenience of passengers, the coaches have been specified and delivered with TV screens and DVD players, hot drinks servery and fridge and an on-board toilet.

Martyn Hoare, who is Bluebird’s Joint Managing Director with his brother Stephen Hoare, said:  “We’ve been very impressed with the quality of the Volvo product, in particular the passenger safety features which include three point seat belts.  These days customers want a high standard specification from their transport, so it was important to purchase vehicles that would easily meet these expectations.  We’ve also found Volvo coaches to be extremely reliable in their operation, which was another key consideration for us when we were looking to expand our fleet.

“The whole specification and purchasing process has been very smooth from start to finish and our Volvo Regional Sales Manager, Richard Mann, worked closely with us to provide help and guidance where necessary.  Volvo even took us over to the Jonckheere factory in Belgium where we could see our new vehicles being built, which was great and we’re really pleased with our new coaches and the service we’ve received.”

Richard Mann, Regional Sales Manager for Volvo Bus, added:  “We’re pleased to have provided two of our new B11Rs to one of the country’s longest established and most respected coach companies.  Our B11R chassis is widely recognised for its unrivalled quality and technical specification for operators as well as giving excellent service and comfort for their passengers.”

Key features and benefits of the B11R chassis include excellent fuel efficiency, the renowned Volvo I-Shift transmission, automatic function check and trouble-free maintenance.

The B11R also benefits from a range of Volvo’s well known safety features, such as the powerful EBS controlled disc brakes and a multiplexed electronics system.

The history of Bluebird Coaches goes as far back as 1924, when the day trip became popular with the British public.  Today the company operates extended tours and continental travel and prides itself on ensuring it has the latest technically advanced vehicles, including state-of-the-art comfort and features to meet the requirements and expectations of its customers.
