All of Golden Tours’ new Volvo vehicles are specified with the Jonckheere bodywork option and have already entered operation. It was the overall quality of the vehicles which impressed the operator.
“They offered the right quality, at the right price,” explained Golden Tours’ Andy Bassom. “Around two thirds of our total fleet is Volvo manufactured, we wanted to expand our services and the B11R was the ideal vehicle to allow us to do that.”
“Volvo’s backup and support provided by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, Hayes was also a key factor in our decision to specify Volvo, considering the amount of miles that our vehicles cover annually.
“Volvo Regional Coach Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge helped ensure the purchase of our new B11Rs was a smooth and successful process,” concluded Andy Bassom. “We will certainly be specifying Volvo again in the future.”
Golden Tours’ eight 53-seat coaches will be operating across the company’s extensive tour programme, which includes passenger excursions in London, as well as to tourist hotspot locations such as Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Stonehenge.
The new vehicles feature standard specification seating, an onboard toilet, TV screens, CD/DVD player and a servery. “Passenger comfort is obviously always a key consideration for us,” continued Andy Bassom. “We’re delighted with our new vehicles.”
Reducing its environmental impart, the Volvo B11R is fitted with the fuel efficient 11-litre Volvo D11C six cylinder diesel engine. It supplies first-class driveability thanks to the I-Shift gearbox, exceptional torque and outstanding fuel efficiency.
The B11R chassis also benefits from a range of Volvo’s well-known safety features, such as powerful EBS controlled disc brakes and a multiplexed electronics system.
“Golden Tours have been a good customer for us, both on the coach and the bus side of our business,” explained Jo Standbridge. “They have now taken delivery of eight of our new B11R coaches.”
