LL Travel have previously successfully operated both B12M and B13R coaches and were keen to upgrade their fleet with Volvo’s newest chassis – the B11R.
The B11R is equipped with the fuel efficient Volvo D11C six cylinder diesel engine, which shares the same design features as the well-established 9 and 13 litre engine variants.
This made the vehicle particularly appealing to LL Travel, as Managing Director John Law explains, “The B11R was the ideal vehicle for our requirements as it fits nicely between Volvo’s larger B13R and the smaller B9R.
“We traded in our old B12M coach when purchasing the new B11R and that vehicle has been absolutely superb over the years. It has needed no major work whatsoever and has always been reliable. The service we had with that coach certainly played a part in our decision to specify Volvo again this time.”
John Law continued, “The new B11R hasn’t been on the road long, but already we are beginning to see very encouraging signs in terms of improved fuel consumption. It is currently achieving about 12.3mpg and if that continues I’ll be very pleased.
“Crossroads Truck and Bus is our local Volvo dealership and they have always been very helpful and supportive. Additionally, Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby is extremely thorough with everything he does and has been excellent throughout the purchasing process,” concluded John Law.
Specified with Alcoa Durabright alloy wheels, the new vehicle has 53 passenger seats, two internal TVs, DVD player, sound system, centre toilet, air conditioning and a rear server with fridge.
“LL Travel were looking for a Volvo that would adequately replace their existing B12M,” explained Duncan Crosby. “They’d had really good service and reliability from that vehicle, but it was simply time for them to upgrade.
“Their new B11R has been on the road for a number of weeks now and early indications show that it is proving to be both reliable and fuel efficient.”
