Fuel economy is the driver for Hollinshead Coaches

The impressive fuel economy of Volvo’s new B11R coach was one of the key purchasing factors for independently owned Hollinshead Coaches, who have recently taken delivery of a new B11R with Jonckheere bodywork.

“We’ve had many years operating Volvos and we like and trust them,” explained Hollinshead Coaches’, Stephen Haydon. “We had two fundamental requirements with our new coach. It had to be as economic on fuel as possible and we also specifically wanted a vehicle with 53-seats plus centre demountable toilet.

 

The delivery of Hollinshead Coaches’ new B11R coach means that ninety percent of the North Staffordshire operator’s vehicles are now built on the Volvo chassis.

 

“Volvo Bus once again met our exacting requirements and we’re very pleased with the new vehicle,” continued Stephen Haydon. “Another factor in our decision was the re-assurance of the back-up and support we receive from The Hartshorne Group and our contact there Bob Phillips. They’ve always been superb.”

 

Hollinshead’s new 53-seater vehicle, liveried in the company’s distinctive red and cream, is specified with Volvo’s fuel efficient, D11C 11-litre diesel engine, rated at 450hp, coupled to the Volvo I-Shift gearbox.

 

The new coach also features an on board toilet, entertainment facilities including a radio, CD & DVD player and TV monitors. It is also equipped with climate control, a drinks area and top of the range seating with leather headrests and trim.

 

Already operating across Hollinshead’s own tour programme, the new Volvo B11R coach is also being used for private hire activity and an increasing number of corporate customers. “That was one of the reasons we needed those extra seats,” continued Steven Haydon. “It is to meet the demands of our larger groups.”

 

Volvo Bus Coach Sales Manager, James Hyde commented, “Hollinshead Coaches is a long-established and loyal Volvo customer. They were impressed by the fuel economy of the new B11R vehicle and it also met their passenger capacity requirements.”
