Volvo customer service a crucial factor for Pulhams

The customer service that Pulhams Coaches received from Volvo Bus proved to be one of the deciding factors in their decision to purchase a new B9R coach with Jonckheere bodywork.

As one of Britain’s longest established bus and coach operators, Pulhams appreciate the importance of a strong relationship between manufacturer and client and the Bourton-on-the-Water based operator is certainly no stranger to Volvo, with around 95% of their current fleet built on the Volvo chassis.

“Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, David Stevenson allowed us to have access to a B9R demonstrator model and that really was a crucial factor in us deciding to specify Volvo again,” explained Pulhams Coaches’ Director, Andy Pulham. “We were able to determine for ourselves how we saw the vehicle fitting into our existing fleet, through important on-the-road experience.

“I have to say all of the dealings we have with Volvo in terms of customer support and information provision really is excellent and it’s obviously very reassuring to have Sales Managers that you trust to deliver the vehicles that you require,” he continued.

Pulhams’ 53 three-quarter leather seated Volvo B9R combines the driving qualities of Volvo’s full size B13R platform, with the lightweight characteristics and versatility of the B7R, resulting in a mid-range, economic and adaptable coach, with excellent driving properties.

“We looked at the whole Volvo coach range,” continued Andy Pulham. “We just felt that the B9R would be absolutely ideal for our UK tour contracts in terms of its size and passenger capacity.”

Fitted with a rear-mounted Volvo D9B 9.4 litre Euro 5 engine capable of 380hp connected to the proven I-Shift gearbox, the B9R delivers exceptionally generous torque across a wide rev range resulting in excellent driveability.

The new coach also features an onboard toilet, two TV monitors, DVD player, sound system, reversing camera and an impressive wood lined floor.

“Pulhams are a long-standing Volvo client and are therefore familiar with the benefits of our customer service,” explained David Stevenson. “In this instance they were debating which model to select from our coach range, so we were able to organise for them to run a B9R demonstrator over a short period of time, to experience the driveability first hand.

“They found the demonstration vehicle to be reliable and economic on fuel, so subsequently purchased their own B9R. I think that this vehicle order shows that Volvo really does listen to the requirements of our customers and delivers solutions that work for them.”
