The promotion chasing, East Midlands club have high expectations for the 2011/12 Championship Season and have recently appointed ex-England boss Sven-Göran Eriksson as Manager. As part of their progressive plans they required a unique new team coach, which Birmingham International was able to provide.

Birmingham International is a family owned, private hire coach company, who have a wealth of experience dealing with sports team transportation. “Professional sports team transportation is an area in which we have a great deal of experience and expertise,” explained Birmingham International Director, Andrew Watkiss.

“We’ve had Volvo coaches in the past, but since the mid 90s we have been using another manufacturer,” he continued. “We returned to Volvo last year with our first B13R and we were delighted with the vehicle, so decided to purchase another for our contract with Leicester City. We really like the product – I’d have a whole fleet of them if money were no object”.

The new Volvo B13R Jonckheere is a 14 metre tri-axle coach with a 13 litre diesel engine, connected to the proven I-Shift gearbox.

Specially adapted for Leicester City’s preferred requirements the interior features 36 leather seats and 8 tables. The club also requested that the servery area be moved to the middle of the coach, with staff seating in the front compartment, whilst the players situated in the rear.

Its unique interior features a rear horseshoe lounge, treatment table, centre placed kitchen and 8 individual TV monitors. There is a complete range of entertainment facilities, including Bose sound system, Playstation 3 consoles, SKY TV, Wi-Fi connectivity and i-Pod connectors. The vehicle also has Satellite Navigation and a reversing camera fitted as standard.

Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, David Stevenson commented, “This is the second coach we’ve sold to Birmingham International in the space of a couple of months, so its pleasing that they liked the first vehicle so much and have come back to us for the Leicester City coach”.

“The coach has the comprehensive specification you would expect from a professional sports team vehicle, with luxury interior, top of the range alloy wheels and mirror effect windows. It combines aesthetic appeal with functional performance and exceptional quality”.
