Volvos are extremely reliable, which is obviously very important to us as we do a lot of tour work,” explained O’Connor’s Transport Manager, Cormac O’Connor. “The B9R is a trouble free coach that meets customer comfort requirements and it’s good on fuel economy”.
The Volvo B9R is fitted with a 9.4 litre Euro 5 incentive engine, rated at 380hp, and is coupled to the I-Shift gearbox. It is specified with Sunsundegui bodywork and is customised in O’Connor’s distinctive white with a red livery.
Featuring 51 reclining and stylish club class executive seats with leather headrests, the interior of the coach is specified to a high standard. It incorporates a functional centre demountable toilet, seven CCTV cameras and two television monitors.
Climate control, hot and cold running water, WiFi and integrated audio visual equipment are all installed to provide optimum passenger comfort, whilst satellite navigation and a reversing camera offer extra support to the driver.
It’s not just the new vehicle that impresses O’Connors either, “We have used the same dealership – McCarthy’s Commercial, for the last seven years and the support and aftermarket care that Volvo provides to us all over the country is second to none,” explained Cormac O’Connor.
“We run a lot of local contracts to Dublin, so the new B9R will be put to good use on those routes as well as on our extensive tour programme to Northern Ireland,” he added.
O’Connor’s new Volvo vehicle joins a 12 strong fleet of vehicles operating out of the company’s County Cork base.
