The acquisitions mean that Big Bus Tours has now taken 26 new Volvo buses in the last two years, providing a ringing endorsement of both Volvo’s customer service and their consistently high standards of vehicle.
Each of the new vehicles feature a Volvo B9TL Euro 5 incentive engine, striking Optare Visionaire bodywork and the Big Bus Tours customised livery. The six new buses entered service on 1st March 2010 and are each capable of carrying 101 passengers, plus a driver and tour guide.
The Optare Visionaire bodywork is of the very highest standards meeting both comfort and safety requirements. The windows are bonded glazed and a front nearside tree bar provides added protection.
Specifically designed customer co-ordinated Fainsa Metropolis seating offers tourists comfortable transit, whilst the integrated 24 channel V6E multilingual language system provides a running commentary, as the buses journey around London.
The new buses will be used on the three designated routes that Big Bus Tours operate: The red route, featuring an entertaining live commentary, the blue route, which takes in some of the major shopping locations and museums and finally the green link, which connects the red and blue routes, with the popular hotel area around Russell Square.
“Volvo had the capability to provide us with the Euro 5 engine before anyone else”, explained Big Bus Tours Engineering Director Gerry Price, “we have continued to use them because of their consistency, we like the stylish Optare Visionaire bodywork and our customers seem to like the vehicles”.

Big Bus Tours London operate throughout the year, with the exception of Christmas Day.
