“We hadn’t bought Volvo in a while,” admitted Excalibur’s Managing Director, Mark Jewell. “But when it came to upgrading our fleet this year we took a good look around at the marketplace to ensure that we were getting the best in terms of the product, the package on offer and the after care, and we felt that the Volvo 9700 was a winner on all counts.”

Mark continued, “When we first saw the 9700 we were particularly impressed with the build quality and the finish but what we really liked was the interior. We like our customers to feel they are travelling in style and these coaches certainly provide that. They might be the first new Volvos we have bought for a few years but if they live up to expectation they won’t be the last!”

The all-inclusive, high specification interior comprises theatre-style flooring - which ensures that all 49 passengers have excellent viewing - comfortable seats, climate control, servery, toilet and Volvo Sound & Vision entertainment system, which includes CD, DVD player and TFT monitors, so that every luxury is guaranteed. The ergonomic driver’s area provides the driver with an excellent overview and enhanced control whilst large window areas and rear-vision mirrors, with integrated wide-angle mirrors, provide excellent visibility throughout the vehicle.

Specified with Volvo’s popular and fuel efficient 12 litre engine – rated at 420bhp - and I-Shift gearbox combination, the Volvo 9700 Prestige Plus is fitted with the latest preventive and protective safety features as standard, including Front Underrun Protection System (FUPS), Front Impact Protection System (FIPS), Knee Impact Protection System (KIPS), the new generation of Electronic Braking System, Volvo’s Electronic Stability Program and reversing camera.

The new vehicles will be used for private hire and for UK and continental touring.

Volvo’s Regional Coach Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge added, “We are delighted to be doing business with Excalibur once again and have no doubt they will be very happy with their new coaches. We’ll be working hard to ensure that the service and back-up they receive is of the same high quality as the vehicles themselves!”
