“There are a number of reasons why we chose to standardise our fleet with these products,” explained Transport Manager, Marcella Laverty. “The Volvos have proved extremely reliable, the fuel economy is good, plus we get excellent back up and support.
“We also find that the Volvo/Jonckheere combination works for us because it looks good and provides excellent on board comfort, which is vital when we are operating in such a competitive environment.”
Specified with Volvo’s 12 litre DH12E engine - rated at 420hp – and coupled to the I-Shift gearbox, the new coach features 53 seats and a double courier seat, all with three point belts, leather piping and trim. Passengers also benefit from full climate control, centre toilet, fridge, servery, CD/DVD player with two monitors, reversing camera, CCTV system and a factory fitted, compact coach wash discreetly stowed in the boot area.
It will be used for tours throughout Ireland, Britain and Europe as well as local group travel and school contract work. Already in service, it has met with a favourable response from passengers and drivers alike.
