The Jonckheere bodied coach, which features Volvo’s Euro 5 compliant DH12E 420hp engine coupled to the I-Shift gearbox, is fitted to a very high specification.
Despite its 13.4 metre length, the coach has just 34 leather seats, the majority of which are arranged around eight tables. A sophisticated audio-visual system includes both Sky and digital TV, as well as a Bose sound system, and incorporates seven large and two small monitors. To the rear of the coach is a fully fitted kitchen, designed by Ellison’s and fitted by Phoenix Busses of Southampton, with passengers also benefitting from full climate control and WC.
For added security, in addition to all the standard Volvo chassis safety features, the new coach also boasts an all-round CCTV system, featuring cameras at the front, rear and sides of the coach, as well as an engine bay fire suppression system and Alcolock - complete with engine inhibitor on detection of alcohol - as fitted on Ellison’s Everton and Bolton football team vehicles.
“We have plenty of experience of what football clubs require from a coach,” explained David Dawson, Fleet Engineering Manager for Ellison’s, who handle the travel requirements for eight Premiership and two Championship clubs. “And because of this, we find that our specification for these coaches evolves over time, which means we really feel that this latest coach is the best yet.”
He added, “We know that with Volvo we’re buying safety and reliability and we have used the Volvo/Jonckheere combination very successfully for a number of our Premiership customers. The clubs have a say too, however, and Arsenal felt that this latest vehicle really looks the part, as well as meeting all their other requirements.
