JJ Kavanagh & Sons makes a return trip to Volvo

One of Ireland’s leading coach and bus operators, JJ Kavanagh & Sons, has placed a new order with Volvo Bus following the award of a new contract.
One of Ireland’s leading coach and bus operators, JJ Kavanagh & Sons, has taken delivery of three Volvo B8Rs, each with the latest MCV eVoRa single deck bodywork

Three Volvo B8Rs, each with the latest MCV eVoRa single deck bodywork, are being added to the company’s existing 80 strong fleet and were selected due to their suitability for the operation required.

JJ Kavanagh & Sons, which next year celebrates its 100th anniversary, has been awarded a new contract by the Irish National Transport Authority.  The service will run from Naas to Blanchardstown in Dublin, 18 hours per day, 364 days a year and the company needed a vehicle robust enough to handle this demanding route.

JJ Kavanagh, Director of JJ Kavanagh & Sons, said: “The Volvo B8R offers the type of heavy chassis required to operate this new service, which is why we have turned to Volvo to supply this important order for us.

“Particularly attractive to us is the new eVoRa bodywork which has just been launched. Among its many excellent features and benefits, is its wheelchair accessibility and three-point seatbelts, both elements are very important for the convenience and safety of our passengers.

“We have a good, ongoing relationship with Irish Commercials in Naas, who will be providing full servicing to these vehicles and this was an important consideration when we made our vehicle choice. We’re very much looking forward to seeing them enter service in early March.”

David Porter, Retail Sales Manager for Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, said: “We’re pleased to be supplying these three new buses to one of Ireland’s longest established and respected operators.  We’re particularly excited about the new eVoRa from MCV and this order represents the first vehicles featuring this bodywork to be delivered in Ireland.”
