Barnes Coaches once again opens its doors to Volvo

Swindon operator Barnes Coaches has returned to Volvo for a fleet expansion, with the purchase of two new coaches - a Volvo integral B11R 9700 and a B8R with Sunsundegui bodywork.

Volvo has delivered two new coaches to Barnes Coaches in Swindon, a Volvo integral B11R 9700 and a B8R Sunsundegui SB3.

Volvo has delivered a Volvo B8R Sunsundegui SB3 to Barnes Coaches in Swindon for use on school contracts.

The family owned and operated business took delivery of the B11R 9700 executive coach to supplement their fleet of vehicles used for private hire and touring. The fully integrated B11R 9700 is a repeat purchase a year after their first one. This is also their first B8R Sunsundegui SB3 which has been selected and liveried specifically for their school contracts.

Barnes Coaches Director, Matt Barnes, explained: “We have had extremely positive feedback from our customers and the operational performance experienced by our drivers regarding the B11R 9700 over the past year, meaning we had no hesitation in making a repeat purchase, when we needed to expand. We also had the opportunity of agreeing the interior specifications of the vehicles during a trip to Poland with Volvo earlier this year.

“The B8R SB3 was a recommendation by our Volvo Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager, Sam Prothero. We required a large capacity vehicle we could use for our school contracts and the 72- seater was a great fit. The B8R, also with a Euro 6 engine, offers us excellent fuel efficiency and performance.”

Matt Barnes added: “As always, we receive excellent aftersales support from Wales & West Truck and Bus in Swindon, who we use for all our external service requirements, which was another reason for selecting Volvo once again.”
